This antique typewriter, with a metal letter cylinder on a wooden base, is a Blickensderfer Model 8 typewriter, made in Stanford, Connecticut. Introduced in 1908, this model was a consdierable success. About 20,000 of the Model 8 units were sold, through 2017, accounting for about 10% of all Blickensderfer model typewriters sold. Note that the layout of the letters on the keys is different than the standard (QWERTY) keyboard letter layout of today. |
