    This seed planter consists of a large canvas bag with a shoulder strap, attached with a metal buckle.At the bottom of the bag is a round metal "funnel" with an adjustable metal cap to change the size of the opening. A detachable telescoping long metal funnel friction fits over the end and has 2 wire loops, at right angles to each other, at the tip.   2. Hand planter - Planter, hand

    This seed planter consists of two wood slats, each 2.5" wide with a round handle bolted to the top of each and a rectangular metal piece attached at the bottom of each. Metal pieces are hinged together to form a "bill" or trough that opens and closes. A "U" shaped container is attached to one slat with a metal piece at bottom that slides in and out to deliver a seed from container and drops to bottom. The wood was originally painted red.

  3. Jack, wagon - Jack, wagon

    A homemade device, consisting of two wooden 2" x 4" boards banded together with iron strips bolted through and a wooden handle with a rounded end as a cam to force the two wooden strips apart. One strip has two notches for axle. The wooden handle is 18" long.

  4. Kerosene Lamp - Lamp, kerosene

    A sheet metal kerosene lamp with a tiny fill spout in the base. It has a square front with a red glass lens - apparently used in a dark room for making prints, either of glass-plate negatives or objects of an irregular shape. This lamp belonged to John Findlay Torrence Isham, a local amateur photographer.

  5. Lamp Shade showing the Waterville Interurban Bridge and Roche De Boeuf - Shade

    This lamp shade has a scene of the Waterville Interurban Bridge, Roche de Boeuf, and the Maumee River "cut" into the outer paper surface, so when the lamp is lit it shows the scene on the shade. It was made by Kathleen Castanza who owned Shades of Distinction in Grand Rapids, Ohio. She first worked at what became the Mill House, then later, acoss the street from the LaRoe resturant, and even later in a factory outside of town.

  6. Meat Grinder - Grinder, meat

    A large metal meat grinder: hand-cranked auger inside, a wide flared opening on top of one end of metal cylinder and a threaded ring, holding flat piece with many holes, on the other end of the cylinder. Its four legs are screwed to a long oak plank. Embossed writing reads: "Enterprise Tinned Meat Chopper" & "Pat. Jan 30, 83 - APL 13.86 - Philadelphia, U". Hopper says "No. 22".

  8. Mimeograph - Duplicator

    A rotating cylinder of sheet brass full of small holes driven by gears and hand crank (crank handle is broken) supported by a light cast steel frame on a square wooden base. A rubber roller is pressed to under side of cylinder by spring tension. Machine has a sheet metal (painted black) cover, that clamps to base, making it portable.   9. Mimeograph - Duplicator

    This rotary hand-operated printing machine has a rotating (partial) cylinder of sheet brass full of small holes, a cylindrical ink container supported by a cast metal frame, all mounted on a mahagany-colored wood base. There is a matching wood paper collecting tray. Hand crank is broken off at base. This model has counting and adjustment mechanisms.

  10. Ohio Bicentennial Quilt, 2003 - Quilt

    This quilt has a maroon border, green and black background, with patches of Waterville scenes and buildings stitched to the front, in a grid of five columns. This quilt celebrates the Ohio Bicentennial, 1803 - 2003, and measures 72" x 76".

    An 8" x 10" pen and ink drawing of the Ohio Electric Bridge done by Robert Stearns in 1999. Presented in a gray plastic frame, not matted under glass (plexiglass). Artist's perspective is looking south southeast, from the Lucas County side of the Maumee River at Waterville, Ohio.

    This typewriter has a black heavy cast iron base with an "ear" on each side, consisting of the typebars, with an unusual type-arm arrangement: Inverted "U" shaped arm on left and right sides.   13. Pewter Waterville, Ohio Bi-Centennial Plate - Plate, Commemorative

    This is a pewter plate manufactured by the Wilton Armentale company of Pennsylvania. It is one of 150 plates commissioned by Jan Seipel, of Waterville, Ohio, to honor the USA Bicentennial, Waterville, Ohio's founding year (which is incorrect: it was actually founded in 1831!) and Herman Rupp's store on the bank of the Miami-Erie Canal in Waterville.   14. Plane - Plane

    A cast iron plane body and handle with a wooden knob in front, designed to hold (secured by thumb-screws) two parallel cutting blades, 0.375" apart, so as to cut the tongue and groove joint. Has a metal guide attached to one side.

  15. Portrait of John Findlay Torrence Isham - Drawing

    Large black and white portrait of John Findlay Torrence (J. F. T.) Isham when he was a young man. The drawing is displayed in a ornate walnut frame with gilded trim. 15'' X 18" in size. He was the photographer who took many of the Waterville Interurban Bridge construction photos in our collection.

    An early electric image projector. Consists of a large sheet metal box with a large glass lens system projecting out of front side and a sliding mechanism on back to hold two pictures - one on each side.   17. Printing block - Block, printing

    An etched copper plate attached to 3/4" thick hard wood block. Etching is printer's block of J.F.T. Isham self photo of J.F.T. milking a cow directly into cat's mouth, captioned: "Factory to Consumer", and was used to print postcards. Note: Printed postcard displayed with plate on shelf of Photo Cabinet. This block may have been created using a glass-plate negative.

    Large wooden pump organ, ornately carved, 2 foot pumps, small mirror above music stand, elaborate designs, holds various hymnals. This organ is currently on display at the Robbins House museum, in the parlor.

  19. Rack, drying - Rack, drying

    A small wooden, folding drying rack for glass-plate negatives being developed. Two wooden frames, one inside the other, pinned to fold apart to 90 degrees of each other. Bottom legs cut 45 degrees to sit flat on table and the top cross-members are slotted to hold the glass-plate in position (12 slots). This drying rack belonged to John Findlay Torrence Isham, a local amateur photographer.

  20. Regulative and Protective T&E - Hose, Fire

    A brass fire hose nozzle, with an engraving of a heart and elk head. Handle lifts up and pushes down for water flow. The nozzle head can be removed from the base to allow other spray heads to be attached, which the donor did not have. It was manufactured by the Elkhart Brass Manufacturing Company, Elkhart, Indiana, dated August 7, 1917, serial number 10167. Although it was originally glued onto a wooden base, the base has been removed.
